Benjamin graduated to the bath tub because he was too big for the netting. Now he gets to "swim" in the deep end of the tub. I have never given Benjamin a bath because Brian loves bathtime so my duty is to dry him off, give him a massage and get on his jammies (lately this has been a onsie and swaddle). I saw a GroBag today and I think Benjamin would really like one though we'd need a 2.5 tog and 0.5 tog. HINT HINT Grandparents. The cool thing is that the temperature gauge tells you what to dress your baby in depending on the temperature.
Benjamin survived his first week of day care though Brian scared me a bit yesterday. He came home and said Benjamin only drank 3 oz of milk because he doesn't like the temperature. I went into panic mode but Benjamin wasn't hungry. I asked Brian "Are you sure because he isn't hungry." He was sure. So all night I obsessed about this and when I dropped him off this morning, Grandma C (that is what I'll call her though she isn't his grandma) clarified -- he is eating 3 oz per bottle. Whew! Someone tell Brian to wipe out his ears!
Ben has been going to bed all week at 8 p.m. but he wakes up at 9 p.m. and then he's usually out until 1 or 2 a.m. which is good. He will then fall back asleep until 4 or 5 a.m. and then won't sleep in the crib so I listen to him whimper on the monitor and then go grab him and bring him in bed where he instantly fall asleep. How does he know the difference? Oh yea, because he's smart!

We ( I mean "I") survived
I knew that dropping Ben off to day care would be hard but as I watched him sleep in bed this morning, I cried at the thought of someone else besides me spending the day with him. I even cried while he was eating this morning. I cried as I drove off after dropping him off.
As advised by my good friend Alissa, I made myself busy today. I cleaned most of the house. I went through Ben's clothes to resell to Stone Soup and send off to Keely. I shopped for work clothes, which was not fun and ruined my self-esteem, but hey, I will work the weight off. May take a while but I will! I even went to Bambini to scoop out BPA free bottles because mine are not BPA free (no clue why I'm freaked about this NOW! and not ya know a while back).
In the end, we survived. When I walked in, he was about to fall asleep in the bouncy chair. When he heard my voice he instantly smiled which melted my heart.
When I got home, I held him close. Boy, I missed him. You'd think a whole day away getting things done would be great, which it was but I can't describe how much I missed him. Did I tell you I missed him?
He was hungry. He's not fond of the bottle though he did drink 2 oz every two hours. After 45 mins, he was fast asleep for his afternoon nap, in fact, he's still asleep, two hours later. I hope he's not out for the night!
In two weeks, I'll be back to work. It was fun while it lasted. Now, back to finish my list of yard work, bathroom cleanings, oil changes and window cleaning.

Childcare
I forgot to mention that we've secured spots at two childcare places. One is an in-home care facility and the other is a day care facility. We're still unsure if we're going to go to part time or full time which really depends on our employers. Right now both are committed to having each of us work from home one day a week but that may change (as with all corporations, changes are always happening -- you just roll with it). I'm going to wait and see what kind of baby this little guy will be before making my decision on which place we'll go with.
My employer also now has a dedicated nursing or pump room which is really cool (and now an Oregon law). I have two pumps handed down from friends and I've signed up for a breastfeeding class.
I'm also pondering why bad things happen to good people. Seems like a lot is happening to my loved ones lately and it's got me down. Most live far away and I can't do anything. I'm a believer in things happen for a reason but none of it makes sense. I've also started thinking about what child I'd like my child to be like before I go to sleep. He's going to be a good baby -- I just know it.
Now if I can stop the dog from waking me up at 4 a.m., that would be swell!

Random thoughts for week 19
I can't believe I'm having a boy. I'm not sad about it but I'm still in a state of shock about having a boy. Now I pay extra attention to baby boys and boy clothes and even bought our little man a few outfits (6-9 months) and we officially bought his "coming home" outfit yesterday.
Everyone is asking us about names. Months ago when I was convinced our boy was a girl, I told my husband he could pick the name. He has picked Benjamin or Ben but not Jamin as someone joked. So far, Lil Berger has been replaced with Benjamin. It's sticking but I also really like Andrew or Drew for short but the husband isn't convinced. We will keep the middle name secret.
After having lunch with Alyssa and Owen the other day, I've decided my baby's "thing" will be hats!!! Since I've found out it's a boy, I've bought three cute hats.
I'm having a lot of anxiety which I'm told is normal. I am mostly freaking out about bringing the baby home and not knowing what to do with it. I think I need someone here with me the first few days and without my mom to turn to, I'm quite anxious about it. My friend who is moving has offered to come stay the first week which has calmed my fears a little. I usually don't miss my mom as much but I'm missing her more.
I love my deep water fitness class!
My birthday is two weeks from today. I feel the need to "live it up." That used to mean martinis but now means staying up past 10 p.m. I want expensive things like a Wii, a new ipod and a Coach purse.
I will need to post the story about the ultrasound but the gist is that my baby is laying breech, face down for now and his little legs are punching my bladder. Once my bladder fills up, it crowds him and he starts kicking my bladder or that's at least what the ultrasound showed. I may have to go back for another one since they couldn't get the front of the heart which is fine by me!
I am in shock that Friday will mean I'm halfway through! Yay!

Dreams
We are back from our weekend away in the forest. It rained the whole weekend so it meant staying in and watching movies in the cabin with the fireplace blazing away. It was really nice. I just relaxed and finally read my pregnancy magazines, took naps, ate junk food -- it was nice. What would have been made it nicer was if the rain would have turned to snow. It was surprisingly 5 degrees too hot for that.
On Friday night, I had the strangest dream. In my dream, my mother was picking out furniture for her home. She basically had a furniture store in the basement and I went through and helped her. My mom was never good at interior decorating (same with me) so she thought two heads were better than one. As we walked through the items, she had several cribs and changing tables and said "pick one out for the baby -- it's on me." I woke up and told my husband at breakfast. He really didn't saw much. Maybe it's a message. Maybe it's nothing but it was freaky. I often have dreams like this and usually I say "Mom but you're dead" but I didn't this time.
I'm having anxiety about a bunch of things -- all money related. We have a large IRS payment to make in January and I'm worried about maternity leave and making ends meat. I think I need to re-read The Secret and just stop worrying. Everything will fall into place. It always does.
Morning sickness wasn't so bad this weekend. Maybe because of all the naps and junk food?
Looking forward to the 3 day work week. Woo hoo.
