100 oz a day?

Last night I knew something was off -- I kept having these funny cramps every hour. I thought I might have overdone it with my walk with Diana. Then this morning, the little bugger wasn't moving and I freaked out. Work has been a little bit on the stressful side so I thought that maybe I was too busy to sit and take notice so I called the doctor.

An hour later, she ran all kinds of test ... FFT, UTI and then the non-stress test. She said my cervix was hard as a rock but then the non-stress test came by I was having mild contractions twice an hour. The culprit -- water. I'm only drinking 26 oz a day when I should be drinking 100 oz. Do you know how much peeing that is? That is going to the bathroom twice and hour.

So, I've drank 78 oz today so far and my kidneys are hurting but I have 7 weeks to go.

The doctor says that if I go full term my baby is going to be 9 lbs now. She's going to sit and think about it until my next appointment. She's also toying with the idea of me starting maternity leave at 36 weeks to reduce my stress levels which is scary because that's not far off. YIKES!

I'll keep you posted!

i've taken to keeping a gallon of water with me at all times. it's amazing how quickly i go through it now. our bodies are insane, aren't they?

i'm so glad all is well, and i second your doctor's recommendation about maternity leave. starting at 32 weeks has been a gift for me, despite my ambivalence about it...

Love that H2O. You need lots and lots of water to help wisk away all the babies waste as well as yours. You just have to learn not to try and go longer than an hour between bathroom breaks. Don't be surprised if you "leak" a little. Just wear a small pad.

All of my babies were 8-9 pounds and they were all induced a week early. I highly recommend it for those of us that make big babies. Doctors will do an induction, but no more than 7 days before your scheduled due date. If I hadn't induced Logan he would have been about 9 1/2 pounds! I didn't want to risk having to have a C-section if I could avoid it.

The first year I did the AIDs ride I freaked out the night before about dehyrdration and literally drank 64 oz of water and then took the dogs for a walk...have you any idea how bad of an idea that was?

My SIL is having her baby tomorrow morning, and I would not be surprised if he is over 9 pounds because he's measuring at 43 weeks and she's not due for a couple of weeks.

DRINK THAT WATER! I can't believe you were only downing 27 oz. That's less than a nalgene bottle. You'll have to get into the water drinking habit for nursing anyway. I'm glad the Dr gave you some "wait and see" time before making the next decision. Time for relaxation breathing throughout the day and at night before you go to bed...
