Babies at concerts?

What is your stance when it comes to babies at concerts? I'm on the fence on this one. There were a ton of babies at the Wilco show last night. Kiddos anywhere from 3 months - 12 months. I'm all for a night out with my husband but it would be cool to expose our child to music we like.

Depends on how loud the concert is, and how they might affect other people's ability to enjoy the show!

I had no problem taking my kids to outdoor shows when they were babies. It's very easy to escape the crowd and very loud music. Both of my kids went to Bumbershoot when they were infants/toddlers. One kid accompanied me at a H.O.R.D.E. Fest in a tummy pack! :-)

It gets harder when they are toddlers because they are so stinkin' active, but it's still do-able. And it's entirely appropriate to "leash" (er, "tether"?) your child in those situations for their safety (and your sanity).

I saw this cute article in Mothering a long time ago with pics of little babies at concerts with these ear muffs on http://earplugstore.stores.yahoo.net/ear-muffs-for-children.html

Here's another funny article about preschoolers at Burning Man http://babble.com/content/articles/columns/badparent/96-Degrees-In-The-Shade-I-took-my-preschooler-to-Burning-Man/

I think if you've got it in you to try it with a little babe, then go for it! (but protect their ears)
